2026-09-27
- #604: Fixed
duplicate_iterators=Truefor async functions spied withmocker.spy.- #611: Fixed async mock assertion introspection to use awaited arguments instead of the latest call's arguments.
- #606:
mocker.resetall(return_value=True, side_effect=True)now also applies to non-callable mocks, such as those returned bymocker.create_autospec(SomeClass, instance=True). Previously both arguments were silently ignored for them.- #547: Added
SpyTypefor annotatingmocker.spyresults.- Dropped support for EOL Python 3.9.
- #147: Removed handling of
RuntimeError: stop called on unstarted patcher, which can no longer occur in the supported Python versions.- Added support for Python 3.15.

Note: 6.1.0 was skipped due to a CI issue. Use 6.1.1.
Experimental
--snapshot-file-lockfor pytest-xdist
--snapshot-updateunder pytest-xdist can race when multiple workers rewrite the same multi-entry amber (.ambr) file, silently dropping snapshots (#1237).This release adds an experimental opt-in:
--snapshot-file-lock— exclusive file lock + atomic replace around amber writes--snapshot-file-lock-timeout— max wait for the lock (default 60s)Same-machine workers only; not reliable across remote workers / NFS. See #1239.
Callout for pytest-xdist users: please try
--snapshot-file-lockwith--snapshot-updateand open an issue if you hit problems. Locking is expected to become the default in a future minor release.New Contributors
