Elior Nataf Lackritz 302a4d4caf release(cli): 0.4.41 (#9596)
Bumps langgraph-cli from 0.4.40 to 0.4.41.

Includes:

- Remove the outdated private-beta notice for `--agent-id` and
`--agent-environment` from `langgraph deploy` (#9506)

Elior Nataf Lackritz cf260dac7f ci(cli): compare the prerelease example's versions with its pins (#9597)
Dependabot bumped the `langgraph` pin in the CLI's
`graph_prerelease_reqs` example from 1.2.6 to 1.2.19 (#9513), but the
integration test compared the built image against versions written into
the workflow. Every CLI PR that runs that check now fails with
`LANGGRAPH_VERSION != 1.2.6; 1.2.19`. Dependabot's own run passed only
because the check needs the LangSmith secret, which dependabot runs
don't get.

The check now reads each `name==version` pin from the example's
`pyproject.toml` and compares it with the version installed in the
image, so later bumps can't break it. It fails if it finds no pins.

Elior Nataf Lackritz a4d4187e82 release(langgraph): 1.2.20 (#9595)
Bumps langgraph from 1.2.19 to 1.2.20.

Includes:

- Add an opt-in strict resume mode that raises `UnknownInterruptError`
instead of ignoring a stale or ambiguous interrupt answer (#9574)
- Give each `interrupt()` in a task its own id; an interrupt raised
after its task already got an answer now gets a new id (#9589)
- Point the multiple-interrupts error at the current docs (#9590)

Elior Nataf Lackritz 572e83cf6e release(sdk-py): 0.4.13 (#9594)
Bumps the Python SDK version from 0.4.12 to 0.4.13.

Includes:

- Add `select` to `threads.get_state` and `threads.get_history`, so the
server can skip loading state keys you don't need (#9568)
- Add `cancel_reason` to `Run` (#9571)
- Show the run's id and status in the `runs.stream` example's end event
(#9588)

Elior Nataf Lackritz 6ea1751a93 feat(langgraph): give each interrupt() in a task its own id (#9589)
Depends on #9574.

Every `interrupt()` call in one task got the same id, a hash of the
task's namespace. So in strict resume mode (#9574), an answer retried
after a node asked its next question was taken as the answer to that
question: the shared id was still pending. Sera found this on #9574.

Now an interrupt's id also hashes how many answers its task already has,
which is the slot its answer fills. With none, it stays the bare
namespace hash, so a node that asks once keeps its id. The count is used
rather than call order because parallel `interrupt()` calls in one task
are numbered in whatever order they run. When a resume map has no entry
for the task's next interrupt, the first id still answers it, so ids
saved by older versions keep working.

A retry policy reruns a node from its first line, but the retried node
kept counting its `interrupt()` calls from the failed attempt, so it
asked again a question it already had an answer to. On main the second
answer still goes through, because all of a task's interrupts share one
id; with the new ids it was dropped. A retry now counts the calls from
the first again, so the node reuses its answers and doesn't ask again.
Sera found this too.

This changes the id of an interrupt raised after its task already got an
answer. Clients that take ids from the state or the stream aren't
affected. Several interrupts from one task, such as parallel tools in
one `ToolNode`, are still answered in the order the task raises them.

## Test plan

- `tests/test_strict_resume.py`:
- a second interrupt in one node gets its own id, and the first keeps
the namespace hash;
- an answer retried in one node is refused (`not_pending`), and the
second question is then answered by its own id;
- parallel interrupts in one node each take an answer, even when the one
called second is the one the node raises;
- a later interrupt saved with the first id, as older versions did, is
still answered;
- a node that fails after its answer and is retried reuses the answer
instead of asking again, sync and async.
- Without the new ids, the first two fail; keyed by call order instead
of the answer count, the parallel case fails; without the fallback to
the first id, the saved-id case fails; without the reset in
`run_with_retry` or `arun_with_retry`, its retry test fails.
- Full suite with `NO_DOCKER=true`: 2886 passed. `libs/prebuilt` with
`NO_DOCKER=true`: 256 passed.

Elior Nataf Lackritz 22ac52e278 fix(langgraph): point the multiple-interrupts error at the current docs (#9590)
The error for one resume value while several interrupts are pending
linked to
`add-human-in-the-loop#resume-multiple-interrupts-with-one-invocation`,
which now returns 404. It now links to the "Handling multiple
interrupts" section of the interrupts page, which shows how to map each
interrupt id to its answer.

Sera found it on #9589.
2026-11-04 15:38:18 -05:00
Elior Nataf Lackritz dbc60dd112 feat(langgraph): add a strict resume mode that refuses stale interrupt answers (#9574)
Today a `Command(resume=...)` that names an interrupt id that is no
longer pending is silently ignored. The interrupted tasks run again up
to `interrupt()`, and the graph pauses on the same interrupts, with no
error. A client that answers an interrupt twice, or answers one that was
dropped, can't tell anything went wrong.

This adds an opt-in strict mode, turned on by the private configurable
key `__pregel_strict_resume` (`CONFIG_KEY_STRICT_RESUME`). With it set,
the root graph raises `UnknownInterruptError` before writing anything
when the resume:

- names an interrupt id that is not pending;
- is an empty map;
- is one value while several interrupts are pending (today this raises
`RuntimeError`).

One value with no interrupt pending is still accepted, because it
resumes a graph paused at a static breakpoint (`interrupt_before` or
`interrupt_after`).

The error's `reason` (`not_pending`, `empty_map` or `ambiguous`) says
which case it was, and `interrupt_ids` and `pending_ids` carry the ids
involved.

Known gap: the interrupts one task raises share an id, so an answer
retried after the task asked its next question answers that question.
#9589 fixes it by giving each `interrupt()` in a task its own id.

The check reads the same pending interrupts the resume is applied to.
That covers subgraph interrupts, functional API tasks and a pinned
checkpoint. It is skipped for nested graphs, and when resuming at a
checkpoint the thread has moved past, because there a finished task can
rerun and interrupt again.

Without the key, nothing changes. `RemoteGraph` doesn't forward the key,
so the remote side decides for its own runs.

A matching langgraphjs change follows.

## Test plan

- `tests/test_strict_resume.py`, 44 cases over the in-memory and SQLite
savers and all three durability modes:
- an unknown id, an answered id, `{}`, and one value with two interrupts
pending are refused, and nothing is written;
- a subgraph interrupt, a second `interrupt()` in the same node, a
resumed task that raised, a pinned head checkpoint, and one value at a
static breakpoint all pass;
  - a superseded checkpoint isn't checked;
- an answer retried in one node reaches its next interrupt (the known
gap);
  - without the key, today's behavior is kept.
- Without the loop change, the 26 cases that expect a refusal fail and
the 18 others pass.
- `test_sanitize_config` covers the `RemoteGraph` drop.
- Full suite with `NO_DOCKER=true`: 2875 passed.

Caspar Broekhuizen b1baa6e0c3 feat(sdk-py): add cancel_reason to Run (#9571)
Adds `cancel_reason: NotRequired[str | None]` to `Run` and to
`RunSelectField`. The Agent Server already returns the field and accepts
it in `select`. It is `NotRequired` because older servers omit it.

JS SDK: langchain-ai/langgraphjs#3206.

Verified with `make format`, `make lint` and `make test` in
`libs/sdk-py`.

Elior Nataf Lackritz 25ccdc8091 docs(sdk-py): show the run's status in the stream example's end event (#9588)
The `runs.stream` examples now show the `end` event's `run_id` and
`status` instead of `data=None`.

JS twin: langchain-ai/langgraphjs#3219.
2026-11-04 12:53:13 -05:00
Sera ec72ddf3c2 feat(sdk-py): add select to threads.get_state and get_history (#9568)
Agent Server now accepts `select` on thread state (langchainplus#57809)
and history (langchainplus#49696), but the SDK doesn't expose it.
`select=["values.messages"]` lets the server skip loading other state
keys (~295 → 35 ms on a 300-turn thread).

## Changes
- `threads.get_state` takes `select`, sent as query params on GET and in
the body for `checkpoint=` lookups.
- `threads.get_history` takes `select`, sent in the POST body.
- New `ThreadStateSelectField` type: top-level state fields plus
`values.<key>`.

## Reviewer notes
- `select` is only sent when passed; older servers ignore it and return
full state.

## Test Plan
- [x] Unit tests for the query params and bodies sent, async and sync
